The "Kasada" day is holiday for the people around mount Bromo. The citizens of Tengger are Mahayana Hinduism believers. They believe in legend about mount Bromo.
Here is the legend :
Long time ago, there was a young couple near mount Bromo. The women was Nyai Roro Anteng and the mas was Kyai Joko Seger. If their names are combined they become "Tengger". Tehy don't have kids for a long time. But Kyai Joko Seger always prayed and requested to "Sang Hyang Widi" to get some children.
One day, Kyai Joko Seger had a dream. A god grant his request. He would get twenty five children. But they had to secrifice their youngest child. But kyai joko Seger and Nyai Roro Anteng didn't give to the god. So, the god was very angry and mount Bromo was exploded terrifyngly. Everything around mount Bromo was shattered.
Because of their fear, they find everything as substitute for their last child. They gather crops and some livestock and throw awas into the crater at that day. That day is called "Hari Kasada"
Up to know, they do the some annual in "Kasada" day, and there are a lot of tourist coming there to see the procession.
